With the announcement of the legislatively mandated ICD-10 delay, a revised version of OASIS-C1 (referred to as “OASIS-C1/ICD-9 Version”) will be implemented in the interim. SHP is happy to provide home health agencies with an updated complete side-by-side comparison of the OASIS-C and OASIS-C1 assessment forms that takes this ICD-9 version into account. As your home health agency transitions from OASIS-C to OASIS-C1/ICD-9 in January 2015, and then to OASIS-C1/ICD-10 in October 2015, there’s a lot of room for error, but we've got your back.
This guide is an excellent reference for anyone who works with OASIS Assessments to improve accuracy, help reduce coding errors, and potentially reduce the number of returned claims.We recommend that everyone who works with OASIS Assessments print out a copy and keep it handy as a quick reference guide. All changes between the OASIS versions are highlighted and color coded to make the transition as easy as possible. Our own staff use this guide constantly in preparing all the SHP Alert and Reporting updates that will be coming out with both versions of OASIS-C1.
The updated items in the document include the ICD-9 based items (M1010, M1016, M1020, M1022, M1024) with their ICD-10 equivalents (M1011, M1017, M1021, M1023, M1025) and are indicated with a light blue fill and the note "OASIS-C1/ICD-10 Change (effective 10/1/2015)".
